Is Springfield MA. really one of the worst crime cities?

A recent article has once again brought up the question, have we gone from the city of homes; to the city of homicides? i guess the answer would depend on who you ask, and where in the city they live. This conclusion came as a result of data gathered by AreaVibes who argue that based on the population size and the crime levels this determination is indeed accurate - area officials beg to differ.
Some say the large majority of murders, shootings, etc. is restricted to the criminal elements and not a fair representation of city residents on a whole - generally the city is safer than a lot of other places, and the idea that Washington and other big cities pale in comparison is ludacris.
We have decided to conduct our own unofficial poll to gauge the accuracy of the sentiments echoed - please feel free to participate. "One of the worst crime cities," we say NO to this conclusion ... but we could be biased, we live here.

Happy Holidays

As we adjust our clocks and hopefully change the batteries in our smoke detectors, let us remember the Holidays are here. For many of us this bring a chance to be around family and friends, for those not that fortunate, AIC will be one of the many places hosting a free community dinner.
As Thanksgiving nears and we prepare to feast Butterball Turkey fans should be aware of  a shortage of turkeys as announced by Butterball LLC and more locally - Big Y. Although this shortage might not be severe ... you might want to plan accordingly and get you're turkey early - they do also emphasize that this shortage is only restricted to Butterball and not other brands.
Another post thanksgiving tradition - Black Friday - has seen some stores pushing for earlier opening times and others opening on Thanksgiving day, luckily or unfortunately for us - however you see it - that is not the case here. So if shopping after eating is on you're agenda you might want to check with your favorite stores to see what their opening hours are.
More importantly if you are traveling be safe, no texting and driving, if not well happy eating and Happy Holidays.
